The Outlook add-in brings Langdock directly into Microsoft Outlook, allowing users to summarize threads, triage inboxes, draft replies, and schedule meetings without leaving Outlook. Users need a mailbox in Exchange Online and a supported Outlook client, see the requirements in the user guide. Choose who can use the Outlook add-in.

Enabling the add-in

Choose who can use the Outlook add-in

On the Outlook Add-in row, select Nobody, Everyone, or Specific members and groups.Nobody keeps the add-in unavailable. Everyone lets every member use it. Specific members and groups opens Manage access to Outlook Add-in. Click Add access to choose members and groups. Excel is a separate row on the same page.

The add-in uses the Outlook Email and Outlook Calendar integrations to read messages, search mailboxes, and work with calendars. Make sure both are enabled in your workspace, since users are asked to connect them when they first open the add-in.
Members with access open the add-in in Outlook and sign in. Share the Outlook add-in overview with them so they know how to get started.

Enabling the add-in for dedicated deployments

Before you start, make sure you have Microsoft admin access to the Microsoft 365 Admin Portal and Langdock admin access to your Workspace. Setting up the Outlook add-in involves four parts:
  1. A Langdock admin copies the manifest link or downloads the manifest file from Set up Outlook Add-in
  2. A Microsoft admin deploys that custom app in the Microsoft 365 Admin Portal
  3. A Langdock admin chooses who can use the Outlook add-in in Langdock, as described above
  4. Each user opens the Add-in in Outlook and signs in
After setup, people in the Microsoft 365 target group can open the add-in from Outlook when you have also granted them access in Langdock.

Upload the custom app in Microsoft 365

This step must be completed by a Microsoft admin.
1

Open Integrated apps

Navigate to Settings > Integrated apps in the Microsoft 365 Admin Portal sidebar.

2

Upload the custom app

On the Integrated apps page, click Upload custom apps.

Once deployment is complete, share the Outlook add-in installation guide with your users so they can open the Add-in and sign in.

Update the add-in in Microsoft 365

When Langdock releases a new version of the Outlook add-in, for example with a new name or icon, a Microsoft admin applies it once for your organization. Microsoft doesn’t update custom add-ins automatically. Update the existing Add-in instead of uploading it again, so users don’t see it twice.
1

Open the Add-in

Navigate to Settings > Integrated apps in the Microsoft 365 Admin Portal and select the Outlook add-in you deployed.
2

Update the manifest

Click Update add-in. Paste the link from Set up Outlook Add-in, https://<your-deployment-url>/api/addin/dedicated/outlook/manifest.xml, or upload the downloaded manifest file, and click Validate.
3

Finish the update

Keep the existing target group, then click Accept and update.
Microsoft can take up to 72 hours to roll out the update. Users see the new version the next time they start Outlook.

Removing the add-in

How you remove the Outlook add-in depends on how it was installed. If a Microsoft admin deployed it in Integrated apps, which is always the case on dedicated deployments, the admin removes it there for everyone. If someone installed it from the Microsoft Marketplace with Get it now, it belongs to their own mailbox and stays after the admin deployment is removed, so they remove it in Outlook. Setting Outlook Add-in to Nobody on the Add-ins page doesn’t uninstall it. It only stops people from using it.

Remove the add-in in Microsoft 365

This step must be completed by a Microsoft admin.
1

Open the Add-in

Navigate to Settings > Integrated apps in the Microsoft 365 Admin Portal and select the Outlook add-in you deployed.
2

Remove the Add-in

On the Overview tab, choose to remove the app. Select Yes, I’m sure I want to remove the app and associated data and click Remove.
Microsoft can take up to 24 hours to remove the add-in for all users. It disappears the next time they start Outlook. If it’s still listed after that, clear the Office add-in cache on that device and restart Outlook.

Remove the add-in from your own Outlook

If you installed the add-in yourself from the Microsoft Marketplace, for example while testing, remove it in Outlook. This copy stays even after the admin deployment is removed.
1

Open your apps

In Outlook, select More apps > Add apps, or All apps > Add apps in classic Outlook, and click Manage your apps.
2

Remove Langdock

Find Langdock in the list, select More options > Remove, and restart Outlook.
If the menu only shows View details, a Microsoft admin deployed the add-in. Remove it in Microsoft 365 as described above.
