Think of the context window as your AI’s working memory - it’s the maximum amount of text the model can “remember” and work with at once. Each token (roughly 4 characters) counts toward this limit. You can find an overview of the context window size of different LLMs in Langdock here. Here’s why this matters: The larger the context window, the more your AI can juggle - longer documents, extended conversations, complex analysis - all without losing track of what you’re talking about.

Making the Most of Your Context Window

Want to get the best results? Here’s what actually works:
  • Stick to the same words: Let’s say you’re discussing “customer segments” - don’t suddenly switch to calling them “user groups.” Consistency helps the AI connect the dots.
  • Point back to what matters: Instead of “as mentioned,” try “like in the pricing section we discussed” - be specific about what you’re referencing.
  • Quick recaps work wonders: Every few messages, drop a quick summary. Think of it as giving your AI a refresher on where you’ve been.
Pro tip: Starting fresh can be powerful! For every new topic, start a new conversation. Also, after about 60 messages in one chat, it’s time for a fresh start - the AI will thank you with better responses. Save your favorite prompts to your library so you can quickly reuse them in new conversations.
