# Update Prompt Folder

> Update an existing prompt folder

Updates an existing prompt folder in your workspace. Only include the fields you want to change.

## Required Scopes

This endpoint requires the `PROMPT_API` scope.

  Private folders require creator access. Workspace-shared folders require workspace editor access or `sharePrompts`. Group-shared folders require group editor access or workspace editor access.

## Parameters

### Path Parameters

| `folderId` | string | Yes      | UUID of the folder to update. |

### Request Body

| `name`                | string         | Folder name. Minimum: 2 characters. Maximum: 50 characters.                                                               |
| `sharedWithWorkspace` | boolean        | Share the folder with the workspace. Cannot be `true` while the folder is shared with a group.                            |
| `sharedWithGroupId`   | string \| null | Group UUID to share with, or `null` to disconnect the group. Cannot be set while the folder is shared with the workspace. |

## Error Handling

| Status Code | Description                                                                                   |
| ----------- | --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| 400         | Invalid request body, missing update fields, or workspace sharing combined with group sharing |
| 401         | Invalid or missing API key                                                                    |
| 403         | Missing `PROMPT_API` scope or manage access                                                   |
| 404         | Prompt folder or group not found                                                              |
| 429         | Rate limit exceeded                                                                           |
| 500         | Internal server error                                                                         |
